WEEK 29 TUESDAY AND THURSDAY LEAGUES

    Friday, March 28, 2008, 10:58 AM [General]

Okay it's another week and on Tuedays league I pretty much bowled my average and I mean right on the numbers with a devilish score of 666.

Now on to Thursday night where we still have a chance to win this league if I can get the other team members to keep there brains intact and not roll all over the place. We did really well on the first and last game but the middle game was well below their averages. I had another good night and I have rolled a 700 series every Thursday night for the last 3 weeks and 2 on Tuesday night for a total of 5 this month. I have no idea how many games we will win or lose since the other team is on vacation and will not make up their games until Monday April 1st.

    Thursday Series - 257+235+238 = 730

By the way if this had been a No-Tap set I would have thrown a perfect score of 900. I never missed the pocket and only left 9 counts usually solid 10 pins.

I hope to have a couple of new bowling balls drilled by next week a Black Widow Bite and a Brunswick Fury Pearl. Just looking to replace a couple of balls I really don't like in my arsenal and hopefully these will work for me.

Good luck and keep hiting the pocket.

Tuesday and Thursday Night Leagues Week 28

    Saturday, March 22, 2008, 08:48 PM [General]

    Hello Everyone,

Let me wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER!

I hope you have been having a great week of bowling and rolling them well. I had a weird week because on Tuesday night I could not get a break and the lanes were all over the place. I believe the reason was we had two bowlers cranking the ball from way inside and they were gragging the oil all across our line which made it impossible told keep any one shot going. I had one lane that seemed pretty dry and another that seemed pretty wet and I was tempted to throw two different balls but I just rolled what I could and just let it go.

Now I move on to Thursday night and my mixed league and the lane conditions were a little better generally because we don't have a lot of big hook rollers on this league. So we started out and we have to make up about 49 pins of handicap and we bowl good enough to win the first game with my 256 game. So I had to give the other guy on my team a little pep talk and it helped he bowled much better the second game. But we get to the last game and again they are missing easy spares or not even hitting any of the pins that are standing on any of the more difficult multiple pin spares. All we needed was to pick up a few of those easy single pin spares and we would have won four but we lost by about 20 pins the last game. I had a 707 series and that is my fourth 700 series this month.

Well we only have 5 weeks left on Thursday night and we are about 3-4 games out of first and we bowl the first place team next week but they have decided to wait and bowl after we do because they will be on vacation next week. They could have bowled two sets last Thursday but they had every excuse in the book why not to.

Well good luck and good bowling.

    THURSDAY NIGHT MIXED LEAGUE...

    Friday, March 14, 2008, 07:20 AM [General]

Well last night was week number 27 of my Thursday night mixed league. Well we did okay but the problem with a couple of the bowlers on my team is they will have one good game and then struggle just to make average and the reason being they miss easy spares. I'm not talking 10 pins or 7 pins I am talking 3-4-5 & 6 pins that should be a no brainer for them.

We are in second place and we lost the first game because the other teams new female bowler that has a 177 average threw a 242 game and we pretty much lost by 44 pins. The second game we bowled okay and won by 4 pins and the last game was the one my teammates were missing all of the easy spares and I had to strike out the last frame which I did get the first strike and threw the second ball and left a flush pocket 8 pin tap and I mean you cannot hit the pocket any better and we lost by 9 pins.

If we had the spares they missed we would have won by probably 30-40 pins and that justv irritates me to no end. We still have a chance to win this league again but the guys are going to have to step up and help because as we all know one bowler cannot win a game.

My series last night was 256-247-225 = 728

Oh well hopefully we can win more than one game next week. We have 6 more weeks left to get our game together.

Tuesday night mens league week 26....

    Wednesday, March 12, 2008, 04:37 PM [General]

Well last night was week 26 and it seems like my team is on a spirol downward to the bottom. I am still carrying a 223 average on this league and my team is bowling really well. But every week when we bowl we beat the other team the first game and last night it was just barely. It went down to the 10th frame and we were 3 pins up and their anchor was hot and i knew I would have to strike out in the 10th to win because we were only up by 3 pins when we started our last frame and luckily I did strike out to win by 3 pins. WHEW!

    My series was 259-214-257 = 730

But every week the other teams just seem to come back and just romp us big time. I don't roll with a big finish team because one guy is 70 and the other is in his 80's and they get tired especially if they played golf earlier that day. I know this sounds like an excuse but it just seems like we are giving some bowlers an unfair advantage just because I have been bowling most of my life I have to give a 180-190 average bowler 25-35 pins of handicap. As you know most bowlers in that average range don't have problems with strikes it is usually their consistency picking up spares that hurts them. So we all know a 180-190 bowler can roll a 225-255 game every so often like the guy last night.

But they do this so they don't lose bowlers because they don't feel like they can compete with the higher average bowlers but I have to try and carry that high average every week their handicap does not change by leaps and bounds.

Oh well let me get off of this soap box and go home.

    Hi Everyone,

I will be in the Orlando area this next weekend for a convention (not bowling related) and I work for a charity group and I am organizing a fundraiser bowlathon at the Colonial Lanes located at 400 N. Primrose close the the Executive Airport. We will be bowling after my convention closes and start bowling some where around 9:30 P.M. Now we will have prizes associated with my convention which is comic book related and it is called the MegaCon show and it is at the Orange County Convention Center.

If you would like to come out and participate and help me raise some money you can do it for a $35.00 donation and we will also have a pizza buffet with soda included. I will have prizes from artwork to signed works of art and some are bowling related like signed bowling pins and I think I may have another DVD player this year. Some will be high scores and others will be by drawing.

If you want to just drop by and say hello then that would be great also.
